I’m Marta, the heart and soul of Terralenta.
When I was little, I was given a toy potter's wheel. I liked it, but I didn't fall in love with it. One of the little cups I had made with my dad's help stayed around the house for years. It was blue.
Then I forgot all about it. Years passed, I finished high school, I graduated once, then a second time. I moved in with my partner, got married, and my little Matilde arrived. Suddenly, I felt the need to return to clay, to create. To leave a job in a world I had long dreamed of, only to discover it was a disappointment. To make space for something positive and pure, for her, for me, for everyone.
And, somehow, that famous blue cup returned. I don't know why or how, but it led me here.
I attended practical and theoretical courses, studied, tried and re-tried, and understood that the potter's wheel is the tool through which I can express myself best. In my creations, I try to encapsulate my aesthetic sense: a balance between essentiality, naturalness, and character. Stoneware is the material I love most; with a soul deeply rooted in the earth, just as family ties and nature are at the center of my life and my production, it allows me to infuse that sense of warmth and authenticity into what I create.
My creations do not strive for perfection, but for reality. The subtle variations in color, texture, and shape, along with small surface irregularities, such as chamotte variations, are an integral part of the uniqueness of the materials and artistic processes that bring my creations to life.
Terralenta is the project that brought together everything I love—art, photography, design—offering me the chance to express it in the most authentic and personal way. It was born from a dream, passion, and the support of those who believed in me from the start. For this reason, I want to dedicate a special thought to Luca, my life partner, who more than anyone encouraged me to give form to this vision.
