I'm Marta, the mind and heart of Terralenta.
As a child, I was given a toy pottery wheel . I liked it, but I wasn't in love with it. One of the cups I'd made with my dad's help had been lying around the house for years. It was blue.
Then I forgot about everything. Years passed, I finished high school, graduated once, then a second. I moved in with a partner, got married, and my little girl Matilde arrived. Suddenly I felt the need to return to clay, to create. To leave a job in a world I'd long dreamed of, only to discover it was a disappointment. To make room for something positive and pure, for her, for me, for everyone.
And, somehow, that famous little blue cup has returned. I don't know why or how, but it brought me here.
I've attended practical and theoretical courses, studied, tried and tested, and realized that the potter's wheel is the tool through which I can best express myself. I strive to embody my aesthetic sense in my creations: a balance between simplicity, naturalness, and character. Stoneware is the material I love most; with a soul deeply rooted in the earth, just as family ties and nature are at the heart of my life and my work, it allows me to infuse a sense of warmth and authenticity into my creations.
My creations don't strive for perfection, but for authenticity. Subtle variations in color, texture, and shape, along with small surface irregularities, such as variations in chamotte, are an integral part of the uniqueness of the materials and artistic processes that bring my creations to life.
Terralenta is the project that brought together everything I love —art, photography, design —giving me the opportunity to express it in the most authentic and personal way. It was born thanks to a dream, passion, and the support of those who believed in me from the beginning. For this reason, I want to dedicate a special thought to Luca, my life partner , who more than anyone encouraged me to bring this vision to life.
